Fine material but above all a lot of art
The materials used in the studio of I Figurari are many and
are often of great value, even though one arrives at such an exclusive
result only as a result of a knowledgeable expertise in the process
of manufacture.
The base material with which the works are created is terracotta
- for the sculpture of faces, of the hands and the feet - and
the iron wire covered in a natural wick of hemp to create the
body (or mannequin), which has to be modelled to the correct proportions,
in relation to the dimensions of the head and the somatic features.
The clothing is a work of skilful artists schooled in the costume
of the period, who know how to reproduce even the smallest detail.
The cloth is all fine quality ( taffeta, sciantung, battista,
linen, ottoman silk, damask silk...) and tinted by hand to be
able to reproduce the seventeenth century tonality; the result
of the tone, slightly imperfect, accentuates the artistic and
artisan character of the final cloth, which is also patinated
together with the passementerie.
Once the desired chrome is obtained, the cloth is cut, sewn, refined
with metallic passemantarie and embroidered, all obviously done
only by hand.
The refining of the dress and the creation of the accessories
is also the work of an attentive research entrusted to the skilful
artisans.
They use precious materials such as pearl, gold, coral and silver
to create earrings, necklaces, buttons and buckles, together with
lots of other accessories in glass, wood, copper and leather,
to render better each smallest detail.
