I Figurari
Artistic Studio of Neapolitan Cribs
I Figurari is an artistic studio founded for the creation of objects
of crib art, in accordance with the Traditional Neapolitan School
of the XVIII century: “Figuari “ is indeed the original
word given to the sculptors of figurines of terracotta and cloth.
The studio was founded by an initiative of Armando Piscitelli,
descendent of an historical Neapolitan family of crib connoisseurs,
who deepened this handed down knowledge with other research and
study of the art of the period of Carlo and Ferdinando di Borbone,
until his passion was transformed into a singularly consuming
entrepreneurial project.
Authentic works of napolitan art, the creations of I Figurari
enjoy a justified fame and are sought, not only by connoisseur
collectors of the genre, but also as individual objects of ornament,
adapt to decorate both classical and modern settings, able to
characterise and enrich them in a unique and original way.
Over and beyond the artistic quality and perfection of the product,
the great success of these works is due to the emotion transmitted
by the expression of the face, by the scene even if small and
composed of only two Figurines , by the miniature of detail that
characterise the personalities and by the singularly suggestive
magic of the set design.
Today, thanks to I Figurari, the preciousness and peculiarity
of this art is recognised and appreciated by a select public of
experts and enthusiasts, no longer only at a local Neapolitan
level, but also in international circles.
From its many collectors, I Figurari can also count illustrious
names such as the Royal Court of Spain who, for the occasion of
the restoration of the crib of the Royal Palace, have charged
I Figurari to project and realise the set design and some Pastori
figures, to
enlarge their crib, which was initiated three centuries ago by
Carlo III di Borbone, King of Naples, on his return to Spain in
175
