An art in the hands of a few
The artists who work in the I Figurari studio, have been carefully
selected from those that have followed a specialisation course
and could demonstrate indisputable artistic gifts: the majority
are graduates from the Academy of Fine Arts of Naples, who have
completed their
course with a specialisation in crib art, guided by the most important
and noted Partenopean critics and scholars.
The creation of an artistic figurine follows the technique of
the Traditional Partenopean School, consisting of different phases
each one of which is entrusted to a specific artist:
Set design - sculpture - painting - clothes design - which are
then completed with the work of a number of miniaturists who create
the precious accessories and various complementary items.
The value of the final result depends above all on the professionally
of the artist who is employed, each sculpture is in fact signed
by the sculptor who created it and is authenticated by the placing
of the trade mark of I Figurari.
The expressive quality of the heads is the merit of the ability
of the sculptor and therefore on the bravura of the painter, the
perfection
of the assembling of the body derives from the ability of the
clothes designer who individualises the right proportions and
chooses the type of costume most suitable, the other artists and
artisans then collaborate to complete the work with the creation
of the most beautiful miniature objects and accessories.
In the end, only the expertise of the set designer will decide
whether a composition becomes an organic theatrical representation
or a banal joining together of scenes of seventeenth century life.
